Restaurant Week

On Friday, Kate and Nic came up to Frederick so we could have dinner during DC Restaurant Week at Volt.  Kate is quite the foodie and she's the one who told us about this place.  I'm so glad she did!  Volt is ranked #15!  It was so good!  Here are a few photos from my iPhone...

Things are Coming In!

We got a lot of stuff in the mail today!  Bedding, towels, shower curtains... we are excited!  Thanks Overstock.com! :)  Moving soon!  20 days!

An Album for Us!

I've been designing a lot of albums lately, and thought I should design one for *my* photos! :) I freehanded this in InDesign... the pages will be 10x10. They are square layouts.

I haven't decided where to order it from... I might just make a WHCC Print Press Book, or maybe if I get another wedding this week do a Couture Book :)

These are just a few of the pages... what do you think?

The House!

We got to see the house today!  We were very excited and I think I can easily say we weren't disappointed.  We are so lucky to have such nice Army housing on base... for free.  We are incredibly blessed.

These photos aren't in order, but here we go!

The living room

My office!  Yay!  It's huge!
guest bathroom
The guestroom
This is so cool- our balcony next to our master bedroom!
master bedroom- HUGE!
Master bath- his and her sinks (Joe's fave thing!)
master bath- toilet is its own little room
The biggest master closet I've ever seen!
I should have moved over to the left a bit, because there's more!
The kitchen, dining room, and living room from the stairs
The garage!!! (a garage, people!)
Pantry closet- it's huuuuuge.  The lady showing us around said some people take out the shelves and use it as a computer room- it's that big!
The laundry room/mudroom.
Kitchen nook- I think a lot of bills will be paid here :)
Kitchen out to the living room
more kitchen
living room from the dining room
The back yard- extra storage on the left- it's huge!
So after today- we are even more excited!  And now I just want to MOVE and get it over with!  And get comfortable in our new place!  March 19th is soon, but not soon enough... 23 days.

Done!

Done!  Ordered!  We'll get them in about 10 days- woo hoo!

To hold the magnet nicely, I made these cards (linen-type paper) that will have 4 slits to hold the magnet... and the back is a link to our website and a big thank you to Jaime for taking all these beautiful photos!  (I'll be posting more of those soon!)

Save the Dates

Because we have people coming to our wedding from across the globe, a lot of our guests need advanced warning.  So tonight I made these!  These are 2x3 magnets... I haven't tweaked it exactly the way I want it yet, but I will!

I'm also planning on making paper holders to set the magnet in and return address labels, etc.  I think this goes pretty well for the theme of the wedding ("country chic" haha!) and I'm pretty happy with them... what do you think?

A New House, Some New Stuff

With the new house comes a lot of things we didn't have here, but will need in the new place.  For example- shower curtains!  We have glass doors here.  So curtains, plastic liners, and shower hangers, etc. Lots of little things are coming up!  But then there's the good stuff!

While I love my bed, Joe doesn't.  It's only a full and admittedly, the mattress is on its way out.  So the one thing we're for sure getting is a king bed.  Woo hoo!  We found one online (we looooove Overstock.com!) and I'm excited to have it in the new place!

And of course, with a new bed comes new bedding! :)  We picked this out- not too girly, but it's modern and sweet.

And this the couch we want- we just found out today it's being discontinued, but we're hoping it's still available when we are ready to get it in two weeks!

V-Day

What's the best way to celebrate?  Cupcakes and pizza, of course! :)

Since I have a wedding today, we celebrated last night... cupcakes and pizza!

Skip the flowers and chocolate- a heart-shaped pizza is all I wanted. :)

I hope you all have a good one and celebrate :)

It Gets Better!

We had to go into the "Transportation Office" today to fill out the last of the paperwork for the few place- this time for the actual move.  As if them packing up all our stuff and moving it for us wasn't great enough...

they UNPACK for us *AND* take all the boxes and paper with them!

Holy Cow.

I like the Army now :)

Floor plans

We signed the papers today for the new place- ahh!  Crazy!

We get to actually see inside on the 26th, but until then, we have floor plans... better than nothing, right?!
downstairs
upstairs
So there it is!  I am still in denial that:
1) I am moving... again!
2) That I don't have to pack a single thing!

I have quite the urge to get boxes and start packing, and it's crazy that I don't have to!

That's all that's going on in the Battles-McKenna household.  Looking forward to getting settled in there March 19th!  In the meantime, Joe has a board for the Army, has to pass his range test, and I have my few weddings- crazy!

We 're Moving!

Our new house as of March 19th!

Sorry that these aren't the greatest quality, but I took them while Joe was driving out my window with my iPhone.  We just found out today that we're going to be moving into Army base housing March 19th!  Ahh!  That's in a MONTH!

The good thing is that the Army comes over on the 19th, packs up everything (NO boxes, NO tape, NO nothing for us!) and then moves it all over to our new place.  I think that is awesome!  I haaaaaated packing and taping up everything when I moved out here, so I am so happy about that!

We don't know too much about the place yet other than that it's three bedrooms, has wood floors, a balcony, and french doors to the yard, and was just finished being built.  So, uhm... yay!
While I love this condo, walking down two flights of stairs to walk Gordon multiple times a day stinks, carrying groceries and my photo equipment up the stairs stinks, and having that extra bedroom will be heavenly- when we have friends over they don't have to sleep in my office anymore! :)

So, we're excited, but it's also CRAZY that we are moving so soon!

Gettysburg

The weather today was absolutely gorgeous!  We had the windows open this morning while we made brunch (hashbrowns, eggs, and toast! Yum!) and then Joe decided it was too nice of a day to just enjoy through the windows, so we headed up to Gettysburg!

Gettysburg is only about 30 minutes away, but I had never been.  Joe, of course, was dying to go again.  We got the audio car CD, which was really nice because we could just drive around in our car and listen to all the information and get out when we wanted to.

I didn't take many photos, but here they are.
